A female ruby-throated hummingbird has a line of Lantana trees all to herself, giving her the pick of pollen-enriched flowers on this warm and sunny fall afternoon. It is not uncommon to see females stay around the eastern Ontario region in the fall. Males leave earlier while females tend to stay around until October before they start their migration to warmer regions. Also of note, when it comes to ruby-throated hummingbirds, females have white necks while the males are adorned with the ruby-coloured necks. Instagram: @danidmedia
