Orion Rises Amid Auroral Colours

One of the best auroral displays of 2024 happened on October 7. Here are pictures taken on the west side of Ontario's Manitoulin Island. We see the prominent constellation Orion rising amid chromatic glory, centre, bottom, with the sideways V of Taurus the Bull above and, to its left, the bright planet Jupiter. Above the V is the famous star cluster the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters.
