I stopped to take a look at a pond and was watching some ducks when I noticed something swimming at the far end of the pond (which was quite the distance away). My first thought was that it was a beaver but it was swimming with its head a bit higher above the water than usual so that caught my attention. Sure enough, I saw that the critter caught something and watched it bring a fish to the shore. A River Otter!! Even though it was too far away for pictures, I enjoyed the show through binoculars. My patience was rewarded when it did a lap around the pond and came fairly close to me making eye contact as it swam by. The pond was very still so love how its speedy swimming movement rippled the water!
