Whenever you get short eared owls and Northern Harriers hunting together there is bound to be squabbles. Twice this afternoon a shorty caught its vole and was immediately set upon by a Northern Harrier. In this instance, the Harrier successfully stole the owl's vole and the owl lost his hard earned lunch. In another sequence I photographed, they both dropped the vole and they both went hungry.
