The northern hawk owl hunts like a hawk, looks like an owl, and combines the best traits of both to make for one cool bird! This winter, a remarkable number of these birds have ventured from the distant boreal forest of Alberta into places much closer to us. This irruption has been an awesome opportunity to see these owls, which will most likely be back in their usual habitats by spring.
