I've been trying for a few years to photograph Tundra Swans at a local marsh. I have not been able to get too close until the other day. I was in my floating blind photographing some Ring-necked Ducks when I heard the swans calling as they swam towards me. I was amazed as 20 swam within a few metres and began preening. I was able to make this photo as water droplets fell from the bill of this juvenile. I made several hundred images in the 10 minutes or so they were gathered round me. Then they were gone, swimming back to their favourite foraging spots and leaving me grateful.
