European Wall Lizard.

A European Wall lizard basks in the spring sunshine. We have two types of lizards that live on Vancouver Island, the other being the Northern Alligator Lizard. Both lizards have the ability to drop their tail if caught, with the tail wiggling for a few minutes to distract the attacker. The European Lizard is actually an invasive species. The story goes that a zoo closed here on the island and they let loose their lizards who have adapted well to our mild climate. Victoria, BC May 20th/2025 R5 RF 200-800mm
