Came across this male trumpeter swan cruising around while keeping a close eye on all activity near their nesting site. Apparently he came to close for one red-winged blackbird who dive bombed him repeatedly but he took it in stride.

Very pretty pose and angle of capture Heather. Interesting how the iron deposits can stain them. Glad that the trumpeters are back in your area.

So I understand that the red stains are blood. Feel so sory for that nice bird. You caught him very well and he stands out nicely against the water.
