Late afternoon I spotted these two loons swimming a fair distance away from the dock. I could tell through my lens that they were carrying chicks under their wings. They slowly fished for minnows and would then feed the chick under the wing. Due to the distance I was from them I unable to get a close enough shot of nature in action.

Great work in a tricky situation Debra. My lens is never long enough, no matter how long it is!!

You made a very good shot out of a problematic condition of shooting Debra. Good focus make them recognisable and I like the pitch black birds over the very nice blue colour of the water. For me these birds are a nightmare because I see them few times in the season and they are always too far away from the shore. I think they like to fish in deep waters.

Even through the distance you can see how involved both parents are in the raising of their chicks, Debra. The close up view shows very nice detail and how well they stand out against the blue waters. Beautiful shot.
