We found a small ( ish ) colony of Common Murres breeding here at Cape St Mary's in Newfoundland amongst the hoards of Northern Gannets and Kittiwakes. This particular one is "Bridled" and has a white eye ring and line that extends towards the rear of the face. This particular subspecies is seen only in the north Atlantic supposedly although the species "Common Murre' is found in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. In any event I LOVE the look@ I think they're quite a striking looking seabird!!!
