Often seen circling above our fields here in Metchosin are a pair of Red-tail Hawks hunting for small prey together. "The Red-tailed Hawk is one of the largest birds you’ll see in North America, yet even the biggest females weigh in at only about 3 pounds. A similar-sized small dog might weigh 10 times that." Cornell. Hollywood loves the scream of the Red-tail as it soars and no matter what bird is on the screen, it's screech is usually that of the Red-tail! June /2025 Metchosin, British Columbia.
