Growing up, my grandma would always call wolf spiders, Charlie, and we were never to disturb them. If they were in a bad spot in her home, she would pick them up with her bare hands and move them outside. The name has always stuck with all of us kids and now other around me have also started calling them Charlie. It almost makes them less scary when you see them. When you come across one, you just say your hello to Charlie and try not to let them sense your fear.
