Entering a large field of lilly pads puts the young teals to a tough ride. They are not big and heavy enough to go through like their mother. They have to climb and walk on the pads while trying to keep up with the mother but the pads field is their play ground and regular place to feed. Each one is now exploring on is own. They ceace to keep the tight pack formation and become easyer prey.

I agree with Debra and Heather. Great story and great shot.
This looks very challenging for the young teals but they appear to be doing well at keeping close to mom. The composition, tones and detail in this image are beautiful and it tells a very interesting story of the challenges this family faces.
Thanks Debra. I was very lucky to find one photo the shows well the young teals climbing on pads.
The image and story are a perfect definition of each other. What a great moment to experience. I love the composition. The clear water in the foreground slowly disappearing to the struggles that the little teals are experiencing. Nicely done.
