On June 29th 2025 we headed out from Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island for a sunset whale watching tour. We encountered two different matrilines of the West Coast Bigg's population of killer whales - the T049A's and the T123's. When two families meet up, it can be quite an exciting time with alot of socializing and this was no exception. T049A "Nan" - the matriarch of the T049A's - is pictured here breaching, showing off her true power and grace as the head of her family.
