This Trumpeter Swan has an injured right wing and has been recovering in an estuary. The injury prevents the swan from flying away but it is able to forage, swim and preen. We do not normally have swans in our area during the summer so it is all on its own. Fortunately, it has made friends with a Blue Heron and they are seen often sitting together on their little island. This interspecies friendship warms my heart and I am thankful that the swan has a friend!
