A woodland caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou) pauses amidst the scarlet-tinted barrens of Newfoundland’s Burin Peninsula. Each autumn, the landscape ignites in deep reds and russets, mirroring the resilience of this isolated island population. It is one of the few places where caribou still roam freely in Atlantic Canada.
