A nice surprise. I male spruce grouse takes flight from a file of lumber stored in the bush. I believe the grouse family nest is protected in the covered pile of lumber. This is the first time the male has made himself visible, I usually just see the females or juveniles.

Beautiful capture of this handsome grouse taking flight Debra. Very nice tones and detail on his wings, tail feathers and facial features here. So well done!

Great shot, Debra!! It's so hard to get flight shots, especially if they surprise you. Well done!!

Terrific shot Debra. Agree with Dennis, the see through composition gives a nice depth. Amasing pose of the bird with a perfect lighting. Spot on focus makes the bird standout very well. Maybe another photo of the week.

Wow! The colour and detail are just so nice. The framing by the Spruce boughs at left and top add depth to the photo.
