A Pileated Woodpecker takes a split second of a pause in between knocks on wood. The woodpecker wasn't having much luck with the standing trees, so it tried its luck with a dead trunk laying on the forest floor in Gatineau Park one early October morning, and it struck gold! Er, bugs!
