We were driving to our cabin, above town, and my husband spotted Bluebirds flying around. He stopped the truck and I told him I would walk the rest of the way to our property, after I took some photos of the Bluebirds. I walked down off the road a little ways, as they got spooked by our truck. I spotted bright blue sitting in a tree and hoped the others were also around, so I sat down behind a bush. After a couple minutes, they were comfortable with me being there and continued flying and hunting for bugs. I loved hearing their calls as they took off from their perches. It's surprising that they are still here this time of year, they are usually gone before the fall, but I'm guessing because it has been such a mild start to fall, that its keeping them around longer.
