This photo of a Tree Swallow in Beausoleil, New Brunswick was taken in May, having returned to its summer breeding grounds in Atlantic Canada, after its long distance migration from its wintering grounds in Central and South America. With a zoom to keep a safe distance, this curious little iridescent gem delighted me by coming out of its nesting box for a split second peek-a-boo! I liked the simplicity of the composition: the textured wood, clean lines and shadows that allow a focus on this little sapphire blue and white star. The swallow itself is divided in two with its sunlit iridescent blue feathers on top and contrasting white lower part. (In French “hirondelle bicolore” reflects the two shades). His little illuminated sparkly eye captured my heart! A local resident here in Beausoleil has amazingly built and installed over 500 birdhouses so far in the region to help with conservation efforts!
