I was a little early when I came back to pick our dog up after her surgery, so I decided to walk the trail again around the clinic. I didn't bring my macro lens with me this time, as there wasn't much around to photograph with it. Well, it was also pretty quiet for birds this time. I was nearing the end of the trail, when I spotted this large snake stretched out along the trail. I knew my telephoto lens was too much for how close this snake was, so I rushed back to the car, grabbed my macro and headed back to the trail. At first, I couldn't find the snake, but then I could see its tail sticking out from the bush, so I quietly made my way off the trail and was able to spend some time with this one. I just love the fall foliage on the forest floor, too.
