The coltsfoot is not a big plant with an impressive blooming but it is the earlyest flowers of the season in april. I don't go walking in nature for the long 6 months of fall and winter. When comes the first warm day of april I grab the camera and hike the Drummond hydro dam trail for the first safary of the season. The only colourful things encounters are some mallard males and some yellow coltsfoots. For the last 5 years now, at the end of the trail, growing alone on a pile of aggregate, this individual reminds me that it is possible to make a living through harch conditions and he welcome me home in the Mother Nature's world. I agree with everyone. Great shot, Yves. (Isn't it nice that flowers don't fly away like birds tend to?)
Terrific shot Yves. The flower sitting amongst the quieter tones of the rock and dead grasses makes a beautiful composition. I love your story and the comparison to the single flower in the next image. Beautifully done.
A beautiful clump of coltsfoot like this has to be a terrific welcome to spring. You got a really nice angle on the blossoms as they brighten the landscape. This reminds me of the wild crocus that spring up along the roadsides and are usually the first blooms to show that spring has finally arrived out here in the west. Great shot Yves and I love the story that you shared with us too.
