Don Wilson, a seasoned train engineer with Aspen Crossing Railway, graciously invited me along for a cab ride in locomotive #8704—a 1,000-horsepower engine built in 1959 by Montreal Locomotive Works. As the ride progressed, nature added its own dramatic flourish: a late summer storm rolled in just as the sun began to set, casting a cinematic glow over the entire experience.

Nice job capturing this beautiful composition from what I think would be a bit of a rough ride. Agree with Jane the train tracks in the corner pull your eye into the stormy scene. Love the clouds and colours from the setting sun. Awesome shot.
Great shot Clifford. The lighted horizon gives a nice mood to that beautyful storm. Agree with Jane about the railroad. I love the composition with the rail road on a far side, a bit intriguing, a bit meaningful.
Wow!! Great shot, Clifford, and what a vantage point to take it from. I love the perspective of the train tracks just at the edge of the shot. Well done!!
