for a very good reason. He was defending a doe. Just after sunrise we spotted this gorgeous buck quite a distance out in the field but not hiding in the trees. I stayed for five minutes or so, however, did not spot a doe. Next image and an hour late the doe is visible in the field of grass.

I love how you show the scale of the forest behind the buck, rather than cropped it out. Great light, too.

Beautyful and nicely lighted scene Debra. Looking at your recent photos it is obvious that you love to photograph those deers. And you'r doing so well at it. Appreciate your description too.
