I photographed this bald eagle in Sundre, Alberta earlier this week during a quiet winter snowfall. The moment caught my eye because of how still and composed the eagle remained against the soft, high-key backdrop. I wanted to use the clean snow and bare branches to frame the bird in a simple, uncluttered way that highlighted its posture and presence. The conditions were challenging, but the muted light and falling snow created a rare opportunity to show the eagle in a minimalist winter scene. For me, this image reflects the resilience and calm beauty of wildlife in the Canadian winter.
