A Vein of Light

I photographed the North Saskatchewan River near Abraham Lake as the sun set behind the Rockies. The fading light left the mountains in shadow, while the river reflected the sky, becoming a glowing line that leads the eye through the vast, quiet landscape. I was drawn to how the interplay of light and shadow revealed the forms, scale, and subtle beauty of an already striking landscape.
