This photograph was made in Grand-Pré, Nova Scotia, during the quiet hours before sunrise. Fresh snow covered the fields as the moon cast long shadows across the landscape. I was drawn to the stillness of Grand-Pré in winter — open land, familiar fence lines, and a sense of the province at rest beneath a wide sky.
