Not more than 1 km and 5 minutes away from the coyote family of 5, I came around the corner on the road and met this young, single coyote. It was the same size as the younger coyotes in the family pack and I am surmising this youngster was part of the pack out on a solo jaunt. It was on top of the furrow of the freshly bull-dozed country road and was eye level to me. I stopped the car and rolled the window down thinking it would instantly vanish and instead it stared at me and then came down to the road level. It was unsure and skittish but definitely curious. After a couple of minutes I told it "you better get off the road and you are supposed to be afraid of humans!"....as soon as I spoke it was gone like a flash! :)
