Deep sky imaging is probably one of the more difficult types of imaging Ive done. There is so much to learn and understand that it becomes extremely overwhelming. With specialized equipment like a goto tracking mount to dedicated astronomy imaging scopes to dedicated cooled astronomy cameras. Specialized filters for narrowband and broadband imaging. The name of the game for this type of imaging is integration. Hours and hours of imaging is required. Anywhere from 2 to 5 minute exposures over a period of 10 plus hours is required to capture these deep sky images. It is common to spend 30-100 hours on one image. The more images the better the final result will be. With specialized astronomy processing software the work really begins with the editing. Detailed intricate adjustments to make the faint nebulae to appear in the stacked image. Few images ive been working on over the last 3 years.
