Deep in the backcountry of Temagami, I was just about to crawl into my tent when this family stormed through the portage trail at 10pm at night. It was a family with 3 kids on a 3-week canoe trip during summer break. The parents had to go back for their two canoes, and the 3 boys stayed here while they waited for their parents. Sitting at the edge of the dock, not a sound in the night but their laughter, I grabbed my camera and took this shot. They had no screens. No phones. Just a brilliant moment with each other looking at the stars and milky way. This image is a reminder to let kids have their childhood back full of outdoor adventures, and less time on screens with the rise of phone addiction. When the parents got back an hour later, I asked the parents if I could have their email address, because I just took the most wonderful photo of their children.
