Bath Time

A male Northern Pintail preens his feathers in the light rain on March morning. The male was accompanied by another male and they swam among a flock of mallards, eating, preening and basking in the raindrops in a small opening of an otherwise frozen pond. Northern Pintails are known for their slender build and long necks, warm around feathers and baby blue patch on its beak. And most obviously and famously, these birds are known for their elongated central "pin-like" tail feathers, adding to its elegance. These birds can be found across the Northern Hemisphere but migrate long distances during migration periods.
