I was visiting Bow Lake in Banff National Park on a beautiful sunny day. I had rented a 200mm-600mm lens and I wanted to see what other genres of photography I could take aside from wildlife with this lens. I realized that I was able to get closer to the intimate scenes of the mountain side, which thrilled me. I knew this picture was going to be in black and white. I loved the way the light was hitting this scene and I was focused on that. What I didn't realize until I got home that there was an avalanche going off on the left hand side. What a nice surprise
