Behind the Grass

I decided to take a drive up the mountain in behind our home, we own land up there and the only way to access it is through some old cut blocks. Last time we drove up there, we saw so many Bluebirds, so I decided to try my luck and see if I could find them again. As I was starting to drive up the steeper part, I saw something to my left, on the top of a hill. I quickly stopped as soon as I saw the flash of red and instantly knew what it was. A Dusky (Blue) Grouse in his display! This is something I have never seen before and was so incredibly happy to have not only seen this, but photographed him. He was so amazing to see like this. I only wish he had stepped out a bit from the brush, but still so lucky to have seen him when I did, definitely in the right place at the right time.
