Worker bees collect pollen using stiff hairs on their bodies and specialized structures on their hind legs called pollen baskets (or corbiculae). To store the pollen for transport, they mix it with nectar and saliva to create a sticky, viscoelastic pellet that clings securely to these baskets. Once the baskets are full, the bee returns to the hive, where she must off-load the pellets herself by depositing them into empty wax comb cells. -- Web search
