A male ruffed grouse beats his wings into a frenzy on an early May morning in hopes the deep, resonant drumming sound produced will soon attract a mate. They are the only species in the world known to produce small sonic bombs with the strategic flap of their wings. Fundy-St. Martins, NB, Canada
