The Heron Neck Bends

"The Heron Neck Bends" by Debbie Oppermann. This Great Blue Heron was very stubborn and determined to catch a fish in one of the three ponds in my neighborhood, I have a pond and my neighbors on either side of me have ponds in their backyards as well. This Heron went from one pond to the other trying to catch a Koi or Goldfish. I took pictures of it sitting on rooftops and on my fence railing but when it tried to land on the ground to get to my Koi and Goldfish I chased it away. It was persistent though and went to one neighbors pond and actually stood right in the middle of the pond stalking fish, There was no one home so I believe it did actually get a few fish for it's effort even though I was waving my arms and yelling at it. A great blue heron is captured in profile against a neutral background. Its long beak and elegant plumage are prominently displayed.
