During this ritualized mating display, the drake (Common Goldeneye) snaps his head back forcefully to touch his rump while emitting a shrill, grating call. He then thrusts his head forward rapidly while kicking both feet backward. This powerful kick drives his webbed feet against the water's surface, splashing up the prominent dual walls of water seen on either side of his tail. Looks like a speedboat!
