The mallard couple is actively eating bugs that are collecting in the heavy layer of tree pollen accumulating along the waters edge. The males brightly coloured iridescent green head and bright yellow bill are a beautiful contrast to the females mottled brown and tan coloured feathers. The females colouration will help her to stay camouflaged while nesting.
