When conditions on the Canadian prairies are right, summer can bring sudden cloudbursts of rain and hail. Such was the case here. While photographing nesting eared grebes at a small, rural pond, the grebes and I were caught in a deluge of rain. The two grebes I could see from shore both took on a posture like the one shown here for the duration. That surprised me. Wish I knew why.
