The history of Texas Hold'em
Today, the most popular poker game is Texas Holdem, but that wasn't always the case. Before Hold'em took hold in the 1960s, other types of poker, such as draw and stud, ruled the gaming halls of Las Vegas and beyond.
.
Although Texas state law officially recognizes Robstown as the birthplace of hold'em, hence the official name of Texas hold'em poker, it is not clear when it was invented.
.
Poker was not always a widespread activity and games were often held in private settings. They were usually held in dangerous places run by unsavory characters and players used to go in groups rather than alone. The legendary Doyle Brunson once said that winning money at these games was easy, but the hardest part was leaving town with the winnings.
.
Brunson was one of a group of traveling players who brought Hold'em to Las Vegas. As early as 1967, Brunson, Amarillo Slim, Crandell Addington and many others began playing Holdem regularly in Las Vegas.
.
For many years, anyone who wanted to play Hold'em had to go to the Golden Nugget casino https://akoacademy.ac.nz/, which is located in downtown Las Vegas, because it was the only place where the game was played. Because of its location and layout - the floor was covered with oiled sawdust - the Golden Nugget's poker room was not high on the list of affluent players who wanted to play the new game, so the professional players sought out a more prominent venue to play Hold'em.
.
They chose the Dunes Hotel and Casino, which was razed in 1993 and replaced by the Bellagio on the famous Las Vegas Strip. The move proved to be a success, as novice Hold'em players filled the pockets of the professionals, and the popularity of the game grew.
.

Texas Hold'em at the WSOP
A gambler named Tom Moore founded the Gambling Fraternity Convention and in 1969 included poker tournaments, including Hold'em, at the second annual Gambling Fraternity Convention. Benny and Jack Binion purchased the rights to the convention and renamed it the World Series of Poker, before it joined their own casino, Binion's Horseshoe. For the second year of the World Series of Poker, Texas Holdem was selected as the Main Event but drew only eight players, a far cry from the several thousand who now compete every summer in Las Vegas.
.
In the 1980s, when California's legal gambling halls decided to promote Hold'em, its popularity continued to grow. It grew even more when in the early 1980s Irish bookmakers Terry Rogers and Liam Flood discovered the game and promoted it upon their return to Europe, eventually founding the Irish Poker Open, which is the second most attended tournament in the world after the World Series of Poker Main Event.
.
The game gained popularity again in the 2000s, partly due to the invention of the hole card cam, which allowed people watching televised tournaments at home to see what cards the players were holding and how they were playing. Then, in 2003, the aptly named Chris Moneymaker won an online qualifying tournament with a $38 entry fee. His prize was a seat to the WSOP Main Event, which he won for $2.5 million. An accountant at the time, Moneymaker became a household name for thousands of aspiring poker players, as he was indeed an ordinary man playing against professionals at their own game, in their own backyard, and winning the first prize that transformed his life.
.
Moneymaker outplayed a field of 839 players in 2003, a number that grew to 2,576 in 2004 when patent attorney Greg Raymer won the title. In 2015, the number of entrants stood at 5,619, before reaching a record 8,773 in 2006, when Jamie Gold took home the top prize of $12 million. While those dizzying heights have never been matched since, WSOP Main Event attendance has never dropped below 6,352 entrants since Gold's fabulous victory.
.

Online Poker
The first real money online poker site was created in 1998. Three years later, in 2001, partypoker followed in Planet Poker's footsteps, becoming one of the first online poker sites - 20 years already, can you imagine?
.
We've given you a glimpse into the history of Texas Holdem, an exceptional game about which partypoker's historic ambassador Mike Sexton once said "it takes a minute to learn, but a lifetime to master."
.
More info https://community.telecomdrive.com/user/thorothy_yoatkin https://www.waste-ndc.pro/community/profile/yoa1kin94orothy/ https://www.discogs.com/user/yoa1kin94orothy https://forum.tokyonightstyle.com/d/1618-tips-for-playing-roulette-online-win-continuously
