Missed opportunity

Just prior to taking this photo I witnessed this lynx in full hunt mode, she was sitting crouched on the snow in amongst the forest. I could hear a squirrel but I couldn’t see it. The lynx remained absolutely still, then in an instant it was launching up a tree, she was at least 20 feet up the old spruce tree and closing in on the squirrel. The squirrel abruptly changed direction heading down the tree, the lynx did the same, seemingly suspended in the air until momentum caused it to fall off the tree with grace as it landed in the snow at the base of the tree. The squirrel raced away, the lynx turned and walked away from the tree, that is when I took this photo.
